Adult Swim + Gallery 1988

Gallery 1988 has teamed up with Cartoon Network’s, Adult Swim and a bunch of awesome artists to kick off 2012 with one amazing show (see/buy work HERE)!  I am psyched.

It was hard to choose, but I finally decided on The Venture Bros., depicting what I thought Brock Samson and Dr. Girlfriend might do in their time off..  Enjoy!

Please Post Bills

I am so psyched to be included in the Bill Murray tribute show, Please Post Bills, opening at Gallery 1988 on November 3rd.  No surprise, I’m a huge fan of almost everything this man has done in his long & successful career, but I just couldn’t resist going for the obvious favorite, Ghostbusters.  Like most kids of the 80′s, I’ve seen this movie probably 100 times, and can recite it on cue.

My piece is actually 2 individual paintings, a before and after of Dr. Peter Venkman getting slimed for the first time.

iam8bit Show is Coming!

UPDATE: These pieces are now available individually or as a set on my Etsy shop!

It’s been top secret up until now, but the opening night of SUPER iam8bit has finally been released & it’s coming up really soon!  If you live in LA, clear your calenders for Thursday, August 11th from 7-11pm, because this show is gonna be HUGE.  Over 100 artists basing pieces on old-school video games, 4,500 sq/ft, food trucks, and music performances should make for an amazing time.

I’ve posted a sneak peek of my pieces previously, but I can now finally reveal all in the set of my A Boy And His Blob inspired paintings:

The Pee-Wee Herman Tribute Show

On super sale HERE

Once again, I am so excited to be participating in another great Gallery 1988 show!   Opening Friday, July 29th, at their Venice location, I Know You Art, But What am I? is a tribute to the amazing Pee-Wee Herman, and should be beyond good.

I based my piece on the first of many scenes from Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure that truly creeped me out.  Pee-Wee chains his bike up to an animatronic clown and goes shopping, but when he returns it’s been stolen, and the clown is looking twice as scary..

My Morning Jacket Poster

UPDATE: I’ve received a few emails about where to purchase this, and I’ve been told that they all sold out at the show.  Sorry to anyone who may have missed out!

I was recently asked to create a Limited Edition poster for My Morning Jacket’s show at White River State Park with special guest, Neko Case in Indianapolis, IN on August 7th.   All posters will be silkscreened, numbered, and sold on tour.

Cult Movie Art Book

It’s heeeerrreeee!  I’m so excited to be included in Gallery 1988′s newly released book, Cult Movie Art.  The hardcover book was published by Titan Books and includes some really amazing work by some of my favorite artists.. Not to mention some of my favorite movies.  Win, win, win.

Book signing / release party at Gallery 1988 Melrose on July 10th.

I Had a Dream About This Place

Well, it’s finally done!  I’m so excited & honored to once again be participating in Gallery 1988′s Crazy 4 Cult show (and even more excited to be attending the opening this year!)  In past years I’ve based pieces on Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Strange Brew, & Goonies, but this year I wanted to take on one of my favorite movies of all time, Muholland Dr.  The 1st 10 minutes of this movie are beyond scary..

Crazy 4 Cult 5:  I’m Getting Too Old for This Sh*t opens July 8th in LA.

Brooklyn Motorized in The NY Times

The electric motorcycle Wes designed for Brooklyn Motorized is being featured in the NY Times today!  I’m so proud.

Read about it HERE.

Rejected Dunny Designs

The folks at Kid Robot contacted me a few months ago to come up with a couple of designs for their 2011 Dunny Collection.  These did not make the cut.

Is This Thing On?

I’m so excited to be part the upcoming show, Is This Thing On?, presented by Gallery 1988 Melrose and Funny or Die.  Each artist participating was given a stand up comic to base a piece on, mine being the lovable, Steve Martin.

I recently finished reading his book, Born Standing Up (which I highly recommend), which is an autobiography of his very earliest years doing stand up in the 1970′s.  I decided to take the super minimalist approach to this piece, painting 2 small iconic objects on wood panels, and sealing them with resin.  The show opens in LA on January 7th.  rumor is that lots of the comics represented will be in attendance.  Woot!
