A Peek at My Halloween Past
I’ve been posting each year’s Halloween costume on here for a while now, but I don’t think I’ve ever had them all together. So today I’m celebrating some of my favorites from childhood and on. I’ve mentioned this in the past, but my family is seriously crazy about Halloween. We used to go camping each fall to a campground that held a costume contest, and we would try every year to come up with something weirdly original. Then I went away to art school, and the trend continued. Now that I have my own kid, I’m hoping to pass along the family tradition.. Poor guy doesn’t know what he’s in for!
Kindergarten. Garfield. My mom made me hold the sign so people wouldn’t think I was Tigger or Heathcliff
1st grade. I wanted to be a bubblegum machine, so my mom made me a sandwich board costume, w/ removable penny.
4th grade. Judge made from toilet paper rolls, graduation gown, rubber hammer, & thesaurus.
5th grade. Giant NO SMOKING sign. I was a Winston, bc that’s what my dad smoked.
7th grade. Blackjack dealer, complete with sad, legless gamblers.
